Did you think hemp and marijuana were the same thing?

What is marijuana? 

Normally, when people talk about “marijuana,” they’re basically talking about cannabis which can get you high. The other term for marijuana used is “weed” and various other terms.

And legally, “marijuana” is the cannabis which has more than 0.3 % THC by dry weight. THC content varies among different cannabis plants. Some strains are supposed to be higher in THC than others.

Legality 

Apart from the THC content, there’s another difference between hemp & marijuana, that is legality.

The Farm Bill passed in 2018 has said that its legal to cultivate hemp, or cannabis which comprises less than 0.3 % THC, throughout the US. It also declared hemp-derived CBD products federally legal.

Marijuana or CBD, whichever contains more than 0.3 % THC, isn’t federally legal.

State laws vary as well. In few states, it’s permitted to be consumed medically &recreationally. Whereas, in other states, it can be used medically. And in few states, it’s still totally illegal.

CBD

CBD is a cannabinoid that’s becoming increasingly popular as hemp was legalized. Many people consume CBD as CBD is known to have numerous health benefits.

CBD is found in a specific amount in every cannabis plants. This means that it can be derived from hemp and even marijuana.

However, CBD products are only federally legal if they’re derived from hemp and contain less than 0.3 percent THC.

Cannabis seeds particularly contain no cannabinoids, cannabinoid is mainly found in higher percentage in cannabis flowers, leaves, & stalks.

Those wanting to experience the beneficial cannabis effects often reach out for cannabis flower, which can be smoked as well as get extracted.

Cannabis strains that are high in THC can produce a high and can be used for medical treatments, such as pain management. Strains with low percentage of THC but higher in other cannabinoids, might also provide benefits but does delta 8 thc get you high?

Bottom line:

Hemp plants and marijuana plants are same species of cannabis plant.

And legally, hemp is known as a cannabis plant with 0.3 percent or lesser THC, whereas, marijuana is a plant that contains more than 0.3 percent THC.
